At the Ohio River Surfers Association our mission is to grow river surfing in the state of Ohio, create lasting and safe river waves, promote river use safety, advocate for the health of the rivers we surf, and foster an inclusive whitewater community.

Our vision for surfing in Ohio is to bring more waves to our rivers. We believe river surfing creates plenty of positive opportunities and growth for cities. We see river waves connecting people to waterways, promoting a sense of responsibility and value to river environments, contributing to the local economy by bringing folks from out of town to patron local businesses, and creating a unique community of whitewater use and passion for rivers in which younger generations are a part of.

Community is founded on the shared love of river surfing and whitewater use. Community means being mutually beneficial - a positive and inclusive river community for us means it is one for all.

Your safety is our safety - it is a reciprocal relationship. We are committed to promoting the knowledge and use of appropriate safety gear and the understanding of river dynamics. Safety in equipment and knowledge should be readily accessible to any surfer - new or experienced.

We support fundamental responsible engagement with the river environment. Advocating for conservation practices on and near the river is important to us, as well as river cleanups and educating people on respectful river use. Being stewards of the river ensures the surfing and whitewater experience can continue into future generations.
